Man Utd identify Spanish star as top defensive target
Manchester United have identified Real Sociedad defender Robin Le Normand as a top target to bolster their defence.
The Red Devils were determined to sign a new centre-back over the summer, but their plans were scuppered by
Harry Maguire
.
United wanted to offload Maguire to West Ham for £30 million before topping up funds for the purchase of a marquee replacement.
However, Maguire decided to stay and fight for his future. This meant that United had no funds and they signed Jonny Evans on a free instead.
It is now reported that United could look for Maguire's successor next year and Le Normand is one of the top names on their wishlist.
The Spaniard, who is also on the radar of Real Madrid, currently has a release clause worth £44 million in his existing contract.
Sociedad are known to be tough negotiators and may not accept anything less than his buy-out clause to part ways with his services.
