Arsenal suffer major blow in pursuit of Spanish striker
Arsenal have suffered a major transfer blow with Getafe deciding against the sale of striker Borja Mayoral this month.
The Spaniard has been in fantastic form for the La Liga outfit and he has already netted 14 goals across all competitions.
Getafe are now eyeing qualification for Europe and they believe keeping Mayoral is essential to achieving their aim.
Meanwhile, Mayoral is also happy to stay put with the Spanish club despite the Gunners opening talks with his agents.
The 26-year-old has his sights on representing Spain at the Euros next summer and wants stability at the moment.
He does not want to move to a new club and a new league this month where he could struggle to adapt in the coming months.
This could directly impact his prospects of making the La Roja squad for the European Championship in Germany.
With Mayoral and Ivan Toney set to stay, Arsenal are now focusing on a deal for Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee .
