Having spent almost 3 and a half years with Atletico, Grbic only appeared in 12 league games and ultimately played understudy to Jan Oblak . After informing his agent that he wanted to play regular first-team football, interest from Sheffield United was revealed and discussions between the two clubs took place almost immediately. The player, who has 2 caps for Croatia, will compete with Wes Foderingham for the number 1 jersey.
The Blades are expected to spend at least £20 million on new players in the January transfer window , bolstering their squad for the difficult second half of the league season.
Grbic had previously come through Hajduk Split's youth side, before a transfer to Croatian club Lokomotiva followed. It is at this club where Grbic shone, and a deal for Atletico was agreed just a couple of years later.
