The Blues invested big in their midfield at the beginning of the season. They signed Moises Caicedo , Romeo Lavia and Lesley Ugochukwu .

The London giants also recruited Enzo Fernandez at the start of last year, but the club continue to be linked with potential midfield additions.

It is now reported by Sport that the Blues are interested in landing the services of De Jong, who is currently unhappy with his situation at Barca.

The 26-year-old has refused to rule out a summer exit away from the club and it is claimed that the Blues would be willing to spend €100m on him.

Aside from the Blues, Manchester United are also long-term admirers of the Dutchman. They previously tried to sign him in the summer of 2022.

A deal worth €85m was agreed between the clubs, but De Jong made it clear that he did not want to leave for a new challenge in England.
