Bruno Fernandes says Man Utd showed character vs Man City
Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes said that the club showed a lot of character during the 3-1 Premier League loss at Manchester City.
The Red Devils took an early lead through a Marcus Rashford stunner, but they were unable to extend their advantage before the break.
City started to pile the pressure in the second half. Two goals from Phil Foden and another from Erling Haaland put the game beyond doubt.
It was another disappointing loss for the Red Devils, but speaking after the game, Fernandes said that his team showed a lot of character.
He said: "Disappointed as we wanted to win the game. We showed a lot of character, but it wasn't enough to win the game."
United have suffered a big blow with the derby defeat. They have now dropped 11 points behind Aston Villa for the fourth spot.
The club look likely to miss out on Champions League football next season, barring a minor miracle during the rest of the campaign.
They will need to win their remaining 11 games of the season and hope that Villa and Tottenham drop plenty of points in the same phase.
