Man Utd prepared to break transfer record for Portuguese star
Manchester United are prepared to make a club-record bid to sign Benfica midfielder Joao Neves during the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils have been tracking the youngster for some period of time and Record claim that they are planning to make an official approach.
The club are ready to offer more than €100m for him, and could be prepared to break their current transfer record (€105m) for Paul Pogba .
However, Benfica seem reluctant to accept such a proposal. They are expected to hold out for the €120m release clause in the midfielder's deal.
Neves is considered as one of the best young defensive midfielders in Europe. He has been identified as a successor to Casemiro at United.
At just 19, Neves has all the credentials to succeed at United. He is a better ball-playing midfielder than Casemiro and has superb concentration.
Hence, we are not surprised by United's interest, but they are bound to face stiff competition from the likes of Real Madrid and Liverpool for him.
