Man Utd enter talks to sign 23yo Bundesliga defender
Manchester United have reportedly opened talks with the representatives of Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong over a summer deal.
The Dutchman has been in sensational form for Leverkusen this campaign and he has already accumulated 23 goal contributions in all competitions.
Frimpong has predominantly operated from the right wing-back role, but United are said to be convinced that he can excel from right-back too.
The 23-year-old was a right-back by trade at his former club Celtic and he also operated from the same role for 18 months at Leverkusen.
Bild claim that United are willing to trigger the €40m release clause in his contract, but it needs to happen before Euro 2024. The clause expires before the tournament in Germany.
Frimpong is currently comfortable and happy at Leverkusen following manager Xabi Alonso 's decision to continue with the club.
This could have a big effect on their summer transfer decision. He could yet decide to stay put and decline a transfer to Old Trafford.
