The north London giants have been long-term admirers of the Ivorian ace and they previously attempted to sign him on two occasions.

Their first approach was when he was playing for Midtjylland while they also tried to sign him from Sporting last summer.

The club are now fancied to make a third proposal for the 20-year-old, who could be available for a discounted price.

The centre-back currently has a €80m release clause in his contract, but Sporting are willing to sell him for €50m.

It is left to be seen whether Arsenal make an approach for him, considering his performances were below par earlier this year.

Diomande did not live up to the high expectations and the Gunners could be tempted to look at alternative options too.

They are said to be interested in landing Ajax's Jorrel Hato who has the ability to play from the left-back role too.
