Man Utd speed up contract talks with midfielder amid Barcelona interest
Manchester United have stepped up contract talks with midfielder Kobbie Mainoo amid interest from Barcelona, according to Sacha Tavolieri.
Mainoo had a brilliant breakthrough season with the Red Devils last term. The youngster scored some vital goals including the FA Cup winner.
It is now reported that the Red Devils are preparing to reward him with a bumper contract after learning of interest from the Blaugrana.
Mainoo is one of the lowest earners at £20,000 per week and United could reportedly increase his salary by five-fold with a new deal.
United currently have a promising project under manager Erik ten Hag and the onus could be on developing plenty of emerging talents.
The Dutchman has a reputation of grooming young stars and he has already done so at United with Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho among others.
The United hierarchy will be expecting for more of the same. Ten Hag could face a make-or-break campaign with the club next season.
