The Sweden international had a sensational debut season with Sporting last term. He scored 43 goals and provided 15 assists in all competitions.

His progress has caught the eye of the Gunners and Leonino claim that the club are very close to reaching an agreement over financial terms.

The 26-year-old currently has a release clause worth €100m in his contract, and the Gunners have no intention of triggering the whole figure.

Instead, they are prepared to pay €90m over a period of five seasons. They are also willing to include €30m in add-ons based on performances.

Overall, the Gunners are willing to pay a higher fee than his release clause. 

Gyokeres underwent a minor knee surgery at the end of the campaign, but he is expected to return to training by the beginning of pre-season.

Judging by reports, he could be with the Arsenal squad by then.
