Arsenal agree personal terms with Bologna star
Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori ahead of his transfer to the club, according to Matteo Moretto.
The Gunners have identified the young Italian as their priority defensive target and they have now agreed on a long-term deal worth €3.5m per year.
The club will now proceed to finalise a transfer fee with the Serie A outfit. The Gunners are confident of securing an agreement in the near future.
Bologna have a good relationship with the Gunners, having previously sanctioned the transfer of Takehiro Tomiyasu in the summer of 2021.
Tomiyasu has proved a fantastic acquisition despite his injury woes. Calafiori also has an injury record, but Arsenal are convinced about landing him.
Calafiori started his career as a left-back with Roma before moving to Basel. On his return to Italy with Bologna, he was transformed into a centre-back.
Hence, he can comfortably operate from both positions. Arsenal are said to be planning to play him from the left side of the defence next season.
