Arsenal scouts monitoring Hugo Larsson
Arsenal are monitoring the progress of midfielder Hugo Larsson, the Swedish international currently playing for German club Eintracht Frankfurt. 19-year-old Larsson arrived in Frankfurt from Malmo last summer, and has finally forced his way into Swed
The Gunners have been seeking an eventual successor for Granit Xhaka , who moved to Bayer Leverkusen last summer. The Swiss midfielder left a notable gap in the Arsenal side's "left 8" position, and have so far this season deployed several players in the role. In recent weeks, Belgian midfielder Leandro Trossard has played in that position. However, Larsson could well be the long-term replacement for Xhaka, and could be available in the summer for around 30 million euros. Larsson is comfortable playing as a holding midfielder, or a box-to-box central midfielder much like Xhaka.
So far this season, Larsson has played in ten games in the Bundesliga as well as a further six games in the Conference League and DFB-Pokal. With one goal, the player has already started to show his ability in Germany.
Malmo sold the player to Eintracht for just 9 million euros, and the club could sell to Arsenal for a fee of around four times that this summer. Mikel Arteta has also personally watched some of Frankfurt's games and is said to be impressed with the player.
