AZ Alkmaar are now two points behind Eredivisie leaders Feyenoord after a 3-1 victory over Fortuna Sittard.

With Feyenoord and Ajax drawing earlier on Sunday, AZ Alkmaar knew a win would put them within touching distance of top spot.
AZ got off to the perfect start with Dani de Wit heading in after only four minutes, but Burak Yilmaz equalised for the visitors from the penalty spot. The penalty was the 250th league goal for Yilmaz.
AZ restored their lead in the 24th minute when a cross from Jens Odgaard was diverted into his own net by Ximo Navarro.
Mathew Ryan made his debut in goal for AZ and he prevented Zinho Vanheusden from scoring an own goal to level the game before the break.
Ten minutes into the second half, Vangelis Pavlidis made it 3-1 from a Yuki Sagawara cross and AZ eased to victory. There could have been further goals but in the end it didn’t matter.
AZ are second in the table and Fortuna Sittard is 13th.
