The Sun claim that Fernandes will become one of the highest-paid players in the division with a weekly wage package of £350,000.

His contract will be extended until the summer of 2027 with an option for another year. It could be officially confirmed next week.

The news should please the club's faithful. Fernandes has been extraordinary in the United shirt and has barely let down.

He had an ordinary start to the previous campaign, but made up for it with a strong finish, helping them win the FA Cup title again.

United will be eyeing more silverware under his leadership.
