Ian Wright reacts to Sterling's arrival at Arsenal
Arsenal legend Ian Wright has said that the Gunners have pulled out a magnificent move to bring Raheem Sterling from Chelsea.
The Englishman fell out-of-favour under manager
Enzo Maresca at the Blues and it was anticipated that he would leave before the deadline.
With the lack of transfer bids, the Blues eventually opened the possibility to a loan deal and the Gunners capitalised on the situation last night.
Wright was pleased with the decision, he told Premier League productions: "That is a magnificent move for Arsenal , magnificent move for Raheem at this stage of this career with everything that is happening at Chelsea ."
"For Arsenal to get a player of that calibre, with that experience, with a manager that he knows, with a manager that really helped him with the trajectory to the top, it is an unbelievable deal for Arsenal . It is a brilliant deal for Arsenal ."
Sterling has the ability to play on the right and left side of the attack, but he has been brought to provide back-up to Bukayo Saka on the right flank.
Saka has been brilliant for the Gunners over the years, but the club clearly need someone with the quality of Sterling to manage his heavy workload.
With the extra games in Europe this term, manager Mikel Arteta may want to rotate his options and Sterling would be a handy choice for him.
