Man Utd wanted to sign 24-goal striker this summer
Manchester United were interested in signing RB Leipzig striker Lois Openda during the summer transfer window, according to SportBILD.
The Red Devils were eyeing a marquee striker in the recent window and they were linked with multiple names before they signed
Joshua Zirkzee
.
Zirkzee had a good debut against Fulham with a late winning goal off the bench, but he has been hugely disappointing in the last two games.
It is now reported that United came knocking for Openda earlier this summer, but the Belgian striker made it clear that he did not want to leave.
The 24-year-old had a brilliant debut campaign with Leipzig after his move from Lens. He netted 24 goals in the German Bundesliga alone.
He has continued in the same vein of form with two goals from as many league games this term. Openda will be eyeing another strong season.
Leipzig were reluctant to lose him this summer too, but they are open to a future sale. They could accept around €75m for him next summer.
