Man Utd handed boost on midfielder ahead of restart
Manchester United have been handed a huge boost on midfielder Manuel Ugarte ahead of the restart next weekend.
The Uruguay international officially joined the club from PSG on deadline day and he was unveiled to the fans before the
Liverpool game.
Speaking after the 3-0 loss, manager Erik ten Hag said that Ugarte needs to build up his fitness, having not played in the current season.
The Dutchman added that the midfielder may need weeks or even months before he can become a key player for the Red Devils.
The club have now received a boost with Ugarte playing almost 80 minutes in Uruguay's World Cup qualifier against Paraguay.
It was Ugarte's first appearance since mid-July, but he looked assured with 87 percent passes completed and eight successful long balls.
The 23-year-old also won 12 duels alongside five tackles. He was guilty of losing possession many times, but that was justifiable.
Ugarte will be aiming for another start against Brazil next week before making his United debut at Southampton at the weekend.
