Cesare Casadei breaks silence on Chelsea future
Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei has revealed that he made the personal decision to stay with the Blues this summer.
The 21-year-old was deemed surplus to requirements by manager Enzo Maresca and it was reported that he could be offloaded.
However, that did not happen in the end. Casadei did not train with the Blues in pre-season, but he recently started against Barrow.
Casadei has now revealed that he decided to remain with the Blues as he has the ambition to become an important player for the team.
He said: "From the moment I decided to stay here, my goal is to become a Chelsea player — an important player for this team. It was my decision [not to leave on loan this season]."
The youngster was one of the best academy graduates at Inter, but he has failed to progress at the desired level with the Blues.
His loan stint in the Championship was disappointing last term. We won't be surprised if he leaves on another temporary deal soon.
Casadei may have to restart his career away from the Blues as he is unlikely to break into the club's starting plans in the Premier League.
Moises Caicedo , Enzo Fernandez , Kiernan Dewsbury -Hall, Romeo Lavia , Cole Palmer and Renato Veiga are all ahead of him in the pecking order.
