Man Utd eyeing surprise swoop for UCL winner
Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a surprise move for Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka at the turn of the year.
The Red Devils strengthened their midfield with Manuel Ugarte this summer, but the Uruguayan has yet to find consistency.
He has started just one game in the Premier League and he could be absent for the Brentford encounter due to a muscle injury.
Florian Plettenberg claims that United are aiming to add more quality into their midfield and a new defensive midfielder could be signed.
Goretzka has been a regular on the bench for Bayern this campaign and United could be tempted to land him on loan.
However, the former Schalke man seems content in Munich and he is planning to stay there until the end of the season.
United are preparing for more midfield departures next year.
Casemiro could be offloaded in either January or next summer while Christian Eriksen could walk away on a free transfer.
Eriksen has been United's main source of creativity this campaign, but he is almost 33. His contract concludes in June next year.
