Arsenal handed good news on key defender
Arsenal have been handed positive news on Riccardo Calafiori ahead of the Premier League clash against Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners returned to winning ways in midweek with a 1-0 triumph over Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League at home.
In the same game, Calafiori picked up a knee injury scare and he was replaced by Myles Lewis-Skelly at left-back in the 72nd minute.
The Italian has since undergone tests for his concern and reports claim that his problem is not serious to keep him out for months.
Nonetheless, he is unlikely to feature against the Reds this weekend and he could be out for a few weeks with a medical ligament injury.
The news is a positive one for the Gunners, but manager Mikel Arteta will need to find a different solution at left-back against the Reds.
Lewis-Skelly could be handed his full league debut in the role as Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jakub Kiwior have been defensively prone.
Takehiro Tomiyasu may not start due to his lack of minutes since pre-season due to injury. He is doubtful to make the squad.
Jurrien Timber is braced to make his injury return, but he could partner Gabriel in central defence with William Saliba suspended.
