Amorim wants to bring Sporting attacker to Old Trafford
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has his sights on signing Sporting Lisbon attacker Pedro Goncalves, according to Record.
The Portuguese tactician arrived in Manchester earlier this week and he is expected to formally take charge of the Red Devils after his visa is approved.
Amorim has confirmed that he won't be signing any Sporting CP player in January, but the same may not be the case when the season ends.
The 39-year-old is looking at multiple players from his former club and it is claimed that he would prefer to bring Goncalves to Old Trafford.
The 26-year-old has been the club's best playmaker since Bruno Fernandes ' exit and he has 11 goal contributions from 12 appearances this term.
Goncalves started off his career from a midfield role, but he has operated as an inverted winger in recent times under the tutelage of Amorim.
Amorim is expected to work with a similar 3-4-2-1 formation at United and Goncalves could be seen as an ideal partner for Fernandes in attack.
