Speaking after the 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace , Maresca revealed that Lavia has been recovering well from his hamstring injury and could be available next week.

He said: "Hopefully he can be involved next game."

Chelsea started the season on a positive note, but their form has nosedived during the festive period. The club are no longer contenders to challenge for the league title.

The Blues have an entire week to prepare for the FA Cup tie and Maresca will be eyeing a strong performance when his team take on Morecambe next Saturday.
