William Saliba was adjudged to have headbutted Joao Pedro in the box, but replays showed that he made contact with the ball first.

Speaking after the 1-1 draw, Arteta said that the penalty incident was bizarre and he has never seen such a decision in his career.

He said: "Bizarre. That means we have probably never seen it before. I haven't in my career. So it is a new one."

With the stalemate, Arsenal are within five points of league leaders Liverpool , but the Reds have a couple of games in hand.
