Chelsea's move for Moises Caicedo stalls after Brighton demand
Chelsea have suffered a setback in the pursuit of Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo this summer.
The Ecuadorian is the Blues' top target to strengthen the defensive midfield department, but they are yet to meet the price tag.
The Blues recently made an offer of £70m for the 21-year-old, but Brighton are adamant that they want £100m for his services.
The Seagulls are willing to accept £70m with Levi Colwill as a makeweight, but the Blues consider him as indispensable for now.
Hence, talks over the midfielder have stalled. The Blues are now exploring the market for possible alternatives before the new season.
Mauricio Pochettino has urged the club to pursue a top-class number six at the earliest possibility, but Chelsea are yet to recruit one.
Caicedo has already agreed personal terms with the Blues, but Brighton are firm on their stance over his future at the moment.
Even if he submits a transfer request, nothing may happen. Brighton showed an example during the winter transfer window .
