Man Utd open talks with Ligue 1 side to sign 23yo
Manchester United have opened talks with Nice over the potential transfer of Jean-Clair Todibo this summer.
The Frenchman has developed into a top-class centre-back and United are currently interested in bringing him to the Premier League.
They have already held initial talks with the Ligue 1 outfit over a transfer and negotiations are also underway with his representatives.
However, a deal is unlikely to materialise until they find a way to offload Harry Maguire , who is currently on the radar of West Ham .
The Hammers recently proposed to pay around £30m for the former United skipper, but reports claim that the Red Devils want £35m.
If United manage to strike a deal, they would still need to compensate his wages. Maguire is unlikely to accept a pay-cut without this.
West Ham are currently willing to hand him a weekly salary of £100,000-a-week which is significantly less than his £190,000-a-week wages.
The difference must be settled for him to leave. If that happens, United could get valuable funds to purchase Todibo from Nice.
