Chelsea miss out on signing French attacker
Chelsea have missed out on signing Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise following his decision to sign a new contract.
The Blues were on the cusp of landing Olise from the Eagles earlier this week. They were ready to pay around £40m and also agreed personal terms with the attacker.
However, there was a staggering U-turn today with Eagles chairman Steve Parish confirming that the Frenchman has put pen-to-paper on a new long-term contract.
It is now revealed that the Eagles were prepared to go to court after accusing Chelsea of tapping-up their player. In response, the Blues decided to end negotiations.
Olise has now committed his long-term future to the club with a high release clause, but we won't be surprised if the Blues return for him at some point next year.
The 21-year-old picked up a hamstring injury on Euro Under-21 duty earlier this summer, and he may not return to action for the next few months at least.
