The west London giants are looking to land another striker before the transfer deadline and they have spoken with Balogun's agents.

However, a deal is far from straightforward with the Gunners likely to demand a higher fee from their London rivals.

Mikel Arteta 's side have set an asking price of £50 million for overseas clubs and talks are currently ongoing with Monaco.

The Blues are yet to open formal negotiations with the Gunners for the 22-year-old, but they would need to pay much more.

Chelsea are currently looking to part ways with Romelu Lukaku . If they are successful, they could spend big on Balogun.

Balogun has already given the green light for the transfer through his agents, but the final decision rests on Arsenal .

The USA international has not been in the matchday squad for the first two games and he is widely expected to leave.
