Flynn Downes has left West Ham for Saints loan move
West Ham midfielder Flynn Downes has finally completed a loan move to Southampton today, as the Essex-born youngster joins the Championship side with a view to a permanent move. Downes appeared for the Hammers 21 times since his move from Swanse
As James Ward -Prowse moved to the London Stadium on a permanent transfer, the Saints asked to sign Downes as a replacement, and have finally got their wish today as the player inked a temporary deal.
Downes' career has seen him play for Ipswich Town for four years, with a short stint with Luton Town in 2018, before making the move to the Swans in 2021-22. That campaign was an excellent one for Downes, and West Ham ultimately signed the player for £12 million.
However, there will be no offer of regular first-team action at the Irons this season and Flynn has opted to make a move to the South Coast with hopes that a good season will boost his chances of a return to the Europa League winners.
