Holding leaves Arsenal as one of the club's longest serving players, having arrived from Bolton in 2016 for £2 million.

Roy Hodgson 's club will pay £4.5 million for Holding, with a further £1.5 million in bonuses and add-ons. Arsenal fans have given Holding plenty of criticism in recent seasons, after the defender had to step in after key injuries to first-team players.

However, Holding will now have a fresh start at Selhurst Park and will be asked to perform as understudy to Marc Guehi at the Eagles.

It is understood that Holding will earn double his current salary at the Emirates Stadium, and also had an option to move to the United States after an MLS side expressed last minute interest in signing the central defender.
