Man Utd identify three targets to strengthen defence
Manchester United have identified three potential targets to bolster their central defensive department next year.
The Red Devils had a productive summer transfer window where they made multiple signings to bolster their squad.
However, they failed to sign a top-class centre-back. The club are likely to rectify their mistake in either January or next summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano , Benfica's Antonio Silva , Nice's Jean-Clair Todibo and Bayer Leverkusen's Edmond Tapsoba are on United's radar.
Todibo was contacted by manager Erik ten Hag over the summer, but United did not make a formal approach to land him.
The Frenchman was also unsure over United's interest, and may want the assurance of playing time to join them in future.
The same could be said for Tapsoba as well as Silva, who are undisputed starters and may not want to accept a back-up role.
Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez are United's regular centre-back pairing, but the latter is out for three months after a foot surgery.
