Gabriel Martinelli was sad after missing out on Man Utd move
The agent of Gabriel Martinelli has revealed that the Arsenal star was sad about missing out on a transfer to Manchester United.
The Brazilian had several trials with the Red Devils during his teenage days, and he also played a friendly for the Under 18s.
However, the United coaching staff were not convinced over his future potential and declined the chance to sign him.
The same was the case with Barcelona. Martinelli eventually got his big break with the Gunners, who signed him in 2019.
His agent has now disclosed that Martinelli was sad about the United rejection but it only urged him to work harder.
He told The Athletic: "He was sad when the United move didn’t work out, but it didn’t last long. But he just kept working."
"Maybe even more than before. Ga is a great example for all young players. Things never went to his head."
Martinelli has been a revelation for the Gunners for the past few years and recently scored the match winner against Manchester City.
The 22-year-old was sidelined with a hamstring injury for several games but made his comeback on Sunday to make the difference.
