Man Utd keeping tabs on Portuguese sensation?
Manchester United are reportedly keeping tabs on Benfica midfielder Joao Neves ahead of a future approach to sign him.
The 19-year-old has made big progress since his breakout season with Benfica last term, and he is currently one of the most sought-after teenagers in world football.
United are apparently one of his suitors and reports claim that they have already initiated talks with Benfica to express their interest in signing the youngster.
Benfica are currently reluctant to consider any proposals for their prized asset and appear keen on keeping hold of him until the summer of 2025 at least.
United still have an outside option of purchasing him next summer. They can prise him away from Benfica by triggering the €120m release clause in his deal.
This would also depend on whether they can convince the teenager. Neves may want the assurance of regular game time from the starting XI to make the switch.
Real Madrid, Liverpool and Barcelona are also keeping tabs on the youngster, who prefers to operate from the defensive midfield position.
