West Ham leading the race to sign Man Utd defender
West Ham United are leading the race to sign Manchester United defender Harry Maguire during the winter transfer window.
The Hammers were keen on landing the 30-year-old over the summer, but a deal did not materialise due to multiple reasons.
The east London outfit agreed a fee with the Red Devils, but Maguire was reluctant to discuss personal terms with them.
He was reluctant to take a huge salary cut without a pay-off from United. As a result, he decided to continue with the club.
This has not ended the speculation over his future and Football Insider claim that the Hammers will return for him in January.
Maguire recently said that he will start considering his future at United if he continues to struggle for regular first team football.
This could open the door for the Hammers to sign him in January, provided he gets the necessary compensation from United.
United may want a replacement in place before Maguire leaves.
