Mikel Arteta provides fresh injury update on two Arsenal stars
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided an injury update on two stars ahead of the Carabao Cup tie against West Ham United.
The Gunners secured a convincing 5-0 win over Sheffield United over the weekend and they will be aiming to continue the good form tomorrow.
Ahead of the fourth round tie, Arteta was asked for an update on Thomas Partey , who picked up a muscle injury earlier this month.
In response, the Spaniard said that he will be out for weeks and the exact timescale depends on the medical appointment today.
He said: "I think he will be out for weeks. I don’t know how long but he’s got another appointment today and we will see more after that."
The Spaniard added that he does not want to put a timescale on Jesus, having previously gone wrong with the estimation on his knee injury.
He added: "With him, I’m honestly not going to give [a timeframe]. I did it once and got it totally wrong. We need to be cautious because we need to treat it in the right way."
In the absence of Jesus, Eddie Nketiah bagged his maiden hat-trick against the Blades. He was in fantastic form and scored three brilliant goals.
Nketiah could have another busy evening up front against the Hammers at the London Stadium tomorrow. Arteta should pick a strong starting XI.
