Tottenham & Liverpool join race for top Man Utd target
Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool could battle it out with Manchester United to sign Jean-Clair Todibo, according to Standard Sport.
Todibo was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford last summer but a deal did not materialise after Harry Maguire 's decision to stay.
United were planning to offload their former captain before investing the funds on the Frenchman, who was previously at Barcelona.
Their plan did not work out but reports claim that they could return for him in January with the financial backing of Sir Jim Ratcliffe .
Spurs and Liverpool are also keeping tabs on the highly-rated centre-back, but United could still have the advantage in the transfer race.
Ratcliffe, who is set to become a minority investor at United, will be permitted to handle the sporting operations by the Glazers.
The British billionaire is also the majority shareholder of Nice and this should ease transfer talks between the clubs for Todibo.
Todibo recently said that he was unsure over a move to United due to the lack of a definite role. The situation is now different with Raphael Varane looking likely to leave the club at the turn of the year.
