Erik ten Hag confirms wonderkid is ready to start vs Galatasaray
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Kobbie Mainoo will make his full Champions League debut against Galatasaray on the road tomorrow.
The 18-year-old recently made his full Premier League debut against
Everton at Goodison Park. He was tremendous with his defensive contributions. The youngster made a vital goalline clearance.
Ahead of the Galatasaray game, Ten Hag was pressed on whether the academy graduate would start again and his response was positive saying:
"If they are good enough, they are old enough. We are very pleased with the performance [at Everton ], but it's one performance and you have to do it on a consistent base."
United currently have an injury crisis with Casemiro, Mason Mount and Christian Eriksen out. Scott McTominay and Sofyan Amrabat are now the only senior central midfielders available for selection.
However, Ten Hag has shown his full faith on Mainoo. He was picked over Amrabat at the weekend and the same is expected when United face Galatasaray in a must-win game in Istanbul tomorrow.
