Mauricio Pochettino provides fresh update on Christopher Nkunku
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has said that the club will continue to assess Christopher Nkunku ahead of the Premier League clash against Everton on the road.
The Blues suffered a disappointing 2-1 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Wednesday. The Red Devils dominated the proceedings, but the Blues had big chances.
Nicolas Jackson , Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk all fluffed their lines on the night. Only Cole Palmer scored for the club, but he was also inconsistent in attack.
The Blues dearly need the services of Nkunku up front. The Frenchman has yet to make his competitive debut for the club, having picked up a serious knee injury in pre-season.
He has been raring to make his bow in recent weeks, but Pochettino has urged for caution before the Merseyside trip saying: "Still assessing day by day, see tomorrow. I don’t believe that he will be involved."
Chelsea are currently 10th in the league standings with 19 points and they are already 11 adrift of the top four. They look set for another season without Champions League football.
