Tottenham aiming to beat Arsenal to Belgian wonderkid?
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly aiming to beat Arsenal to the signing of Royal Antwerp wonderkid Arthur Vermeeren in January.
The 18-year-old is regarded as one of the best young midfielders in European football and he was brilliant in the Champions League group stage.
Vermeeren made three goal contributions in the European campaign and one of those was the opening goal in the shock 3-2 win over Barcelona.
Aside from his goal involvements, the youngster also impressed with his tackling, ball recoveries as well as his distribution from midfield.
He can play anywhere in the centre of the park and The Sun claim that Spurs are aiming to beat the Gunners to a winter deal for his services.
The north London club are willing to pay the £25 million asking price for the teenager ahead of Arsenal , who may have other priorities next month.
The Gunners are said to be prioritising a marquee striker for January and seem unlikely to make a huge outlay on Vermeeren at the moment.
