Injured Arsenal star included in UCL knockout stage squad
Arsenal have included Jurrien Timber in their Champions League squad for the knockout stage of the competition.
The Netherlands international joined the Gunners from Ajax last summer, and had a brilliant pre-season with the club.
However, he picked up a serious knee injury in the opening game against Nottingham Forest and needed an operation.
Timber has been on a long road to recovery since the setback, but it is anticipated that he will return to team training soon.
The centre-back is pencilled to make his comeback in March. There are no surprises that he has been included in the UCL squad.
Arsenal are scheduled to face Porto in a double-legged tie in the round of 16. They will face the Portuguese side on the road first.
The game will be played on February 21 before the return leg on March 12 at home. Timber could make the squad for the second leg.
Arsenal are currently in a stellar run of form with three straight wins. They beat Liverpool by a comfortable 3-1 scoreline on Sunday.
