Chelsea unlikely to afford Nico Williams this summer
Chelsea are unlikely to afford the signature of Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams this summer due to his wage demands, according to David Ornstein.
The Blues are likely to go on another spending spree in the next
transfer window and they have identified Williams as one of their priority targets.
The Spanish ace has been a revelation for Bilbao with 17 goal involvements this term, but it could be his final season at the Basque outfit.
The 21-year-old currently has a release clause of 50 million euros which should not be a stumbling block for the west London giants.
However, his current wages are a concern for them. Williams recently penned a new deal at Bilbao with a weekly salary of around 200,000 euros per week.
Williams would require a hike on his wages at his next club and Chelsea can't afford it as they are close to breaching Financial Fair Play limits, as per Ornstein.
