Arsenal identify 33-goal striker as priority target
Arsenal have identified Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres as their priority target for the summer transfer window.
The Gunners have been scoring for fun since the turn of the year but they are expected to spend on a marquee centre-forward.
Gyokeres has been identified as the number one target, according to Football Transfers, but he is unlikely to come on the cheap.
The former Coventry City striker joined Sporting for €20m last summer and he has been a revelation during his debut campaign.
He has netted a staggering 33 goals from 37 appearances. The Swede has also contributed 12 assists during the same period.
It has been an exceptional debut season for him and Sporting are expected to hold out for the €100m release clause in his deal.
This may not be out of the range of the Gunners, who are set to be financially boosted by another year in the Champions League.
Arsenal are currently top of the Premier League with 64 points and have also progressed to the last eight of the Champions League.
