Man Utd have genuine interest in signing Uruguayan star
Manchester United have a genuine interest in landing midfielder Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain in the current transfer window.
The Red Devils are aiming to strengthen the defensive midfield department following the disappointing performances of Casemiro last season.
Sofyan Amrabat showed promise during the final weeks of the campaign, but it is unclear whether his loan contract will be turned into a permanent one.
It is now reported that United's interest in Ugarte is genuine, but they still need to persuade Les Parisiens to part ways with the talented star.
Ugarte has already given the green light to join the Red Devils, but Les Parisiens are unlikely to let him go on the cheap this summer.
They paid a hefty £51 million to purchase him from Sporting Lisbon last year and are expected to hold out for a similar fee to sell.
It remains to be seen whether United will make such an outlay, considering they have a limited pre-sales budget without Champions League revenue.
