Barcelona pushing to agree terms with Arsenal & Chelsea target
Barcelona are pushing to agree terms with Athletic Bilbao star Nico Williams amid interest from Arsenal and Chelsea.
The Spanish star is currently one of the most sought-after wingers in European football after a brilliant season for his boyhood club.
He scored eight goals and provided 19 assists for Bilbao last term and went on to star for Spain with two goals and one assist at Euro 2024.
Williams has now been tipped to pursue a bigger challenge and Fabrizio Romano claims that Barcelona are aiming to win the pursuit.
They have already opened talks with the player's representatives through sporting director Deco in order to finalise contract terms.
The Blaugrana still face a hurdle in signing him, considering Bilbao want the player's €58 million release clause to be paid as a whole.
Barcelona can't do that at the moment due to their FFP restrictions, but they are hopeful that La Liga will relieve them in the coming days.
Williams is likely to prioritise a move to Barcelona.
