Chelsea suffer fresh blow in Victor Osimhen pursuit
Chelsea have suffered a fresh blow in signing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen during the January transfer window, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Nigeria international was a top target for the Blues last summer, but he turned down their advances to join Galatasaray on a season-long loan.
Chelsea were prepared to sign Osimhen on loan with an obligation to buy next summer, but he refused to accept a sizeable pay-cut on his wages.
The Blues have not given up on a fresh approach in January, but Plettenberg claims that Osimhen plans to turn down the west London heavyweights.
Osimhen has the option to cut short his loan deal with Galatasaray in January, but he is prepared to see out the campaign before pursuing a new club.
The striker will have a reduced release clause of €75 million next summer which is bound to attract interest from several clubs aside from the Blues.
Arsenal are also deemed to be monitoring his situation at Napoli.
