Chelsea handed blow in pursuit of French striker
Chelsea have been handed a blow in the pursuit of Montpellier striker Elye Wahi, according to RMC Sport.
The west London giants have been in discussions with Montpellier for the young star, but they are yet to agree on a deal.
They recently proposed to pay €25m to sign the Frenchman, but the proposal has been swiftly rejected by the Ligue 1 club.
Montpellier are currently assessing the nature of the market, and believe there could be more interest in the 20-year-old.
Arsenal are also keeping tabs on the youngster, and could make an approach as soon as Folarin Balogun leaves.
Wahi was in fine form for Montpellier in the recent campaign. He contributed 19 goals and six assists in Ligue 1.
The striker is now eyeing a bigger challenge away from the club, but Montpellier won't let him go on the cheap.
It was previously reported that they could demand close to €34m for the striker amid his excellent progress last term.
