Man Utd considered move for Josko Gvardiol?
Manchester United considered a move for RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol during last summer's transfer window.
The Croatian is one of the best young centre-backs in the world, and he is currently on the verge of joining Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola 's side have agreed an initial fee of around €90 million for the 21-year-old, and he could sign for them very soon.
The Times now report that United had Gvardiol in a seven-man shortlist last summer, but they chose to sign Lisandro Martinez .
Martinez was initially the subject of criticism from some pundits due to his height, but the Argentine rose up to the challenge.
He was brilliant for the Red Devils over the course of last season, and just missed out on the Player of the Year accolade.
United should have no regrets over purchasing Martinez over Gvardiol, but fans will feel they could have signed both of them.
The Red Devils are currently open to pursuing a new centre-back, but they are unlikely to spend more than €30-35 million.
