Chelsea send contract warning to Ian Maatsen
Chelsea have reportedly informed Ian Maatsen that he could be sold in January if he does not sign a new contract.
The Blues accepted a £31 million bid from Burnley for Maatsen on deadline day, but the left-back refused to accept the transfer.
As a result, he is still contracted to the club, but the hierarchy want his future sorted at the earliest possibility, as per Romano.
Maatsen's current contract with the club expires in the summer of 2024, and the Blues don't have any option to extend his stay.
The board want Maatsen to sign a new long-term deal to continue at the club or else he could be sold in the next window.
The Clarets continue to remain interested in the talented Dutchman, and could make a fresh approach at the turn of the year.
Maatsen has played as a regular substitute for Ben Chilwell this season, but he can also operate as a left winger when required.
