Callum Hudson-Odoi explains Chelsea transfer decision
Nottingham Forest winger Callum Hudson-Odoi has revealed that he made the personal choice to leave Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
The Englishman had a poor loan spell with Bayer Leverkusen last term. He was a regular on the bench and struggled for playing time.
Hudson-Odoi was linked with a move to Fulham for most of the summer, but he eventually made the switch to Forest before the deadline.
Speaking to The Telegraph , he said that the decision to leave the Blues was emotional, but it was the best time to part ways with the club.
The Blues graduate added that it was his choice to join Steve Cooper's side. He believes the club are the right place for him to excel.
He said: " Chelsea has been my home for a very long time and knowing it was time to go was emotional."
"It was difficult, we had conversations but I thought it was best if I leave. It was a mutual agreement, but I'd say it was more my decision.
"Forest is the right place for me to excel in my football, and do more than I probably could at Chelsea . I want to be playing as much as possible."
Hudson-Odoi made a terrific start to his Forest career on Monday, scoring a vital equaliser against Burnley on his Premier League debut.
