Man Utd legend on his way to Newcastle United?
Manchester United legend David de Gea could make a surprise return to the Premier League with Newcastle United, according to TalkSPORT.
The Spaniard spent 12 seasons with the Red Devils and he left the club last summer after they decided against renewing his contract.
United ended up signing Andre Onana from Inter as his replacement, but the Cameroon international has yet to find consistency in goal.
It is now reported that Eddie Howe 's side are looking into a free transfer for De Gea, who continues to remain a free-agent.
The experienced star is said to be interested in taking up the challenge with the Magpies, who are without injured Nick Pope for five months.
De Gea could sign for the Tyneside outfit on a short-term deal until the end of the season with a possible option to extend if he impresses.
The 33-year-old could relish the challenge of helping the Magpies finish in the top four of the Premier League ahead of United this term.
