Man Utd ready to sell left-back to Benfica this winter
Manchester United are prepared to sell left-back Alvaro Fernandez to Benfica when the transfer window reopens next month.
The Red Devils are eyeing a new striker at the turn of the year and for that to happen, they need to recoup funds from sales.
Fernandez is presently on loan with Granada in the Spanish La Liga, but United could recall him at the start of 2024.
Benfica have expressed an interest in signing him and it is claimed that United are prepared to accept €7m for his exit.
The hierarchy are also willing to accept a reduced figure for the defender, suppose Benfica are ready to include a sell-on clause.
Fernandez featured for the Red Devils in pre-season, but he has yet to make a competitive appearance for the club in any competition.
Judging by United's stance, he may well leave the club without playing for them. Benfica seem in pole position to land him soon.
The Portuguese giants are prepared to assure him with a starting role.
